In the movie, Woody is a cowboy doll, voiced by Tom Hanks, who envies the new favorite toy in town, Buzz Lightyear, space ranger, voiced by Tim Allen. It answers the question “What happens to my toys when I leave the room?” in a wonderful, moral, fantastic way. The first totally computer animated movie is TOY STORY. Movieguide® previously reviewed the film TOY STORY: The film had a $51 million box office debut but that was “disappointing for a brand as recognizable as Pixar,” especially considering the film took $200 million to produce.
There was much hype around the film LIGHTYEAR, but the film did not fare as well as Pixar thought. Tom Hanks, the voice of Woody, stated, “I don’t understand that.” Chris Evans played the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the film, which didn’t make sense to many. In 2022, Disney Pixar decided to give Buzz Lightyear his own film, known as LIGHTYEAR, however this wouldn’t be as a toy but as a space soldier, flying through space and traveling through the universe.
